January 2020 news

Alex KT, James Winfield and Rosario Graziano shared the spoils of our January 27 tournament in a somewhat water damaged poker den. Part of the ceiling had caved in when Jonno turned up to set up the tournament! Two new players tonight, Robert Hitchings and Sami Mansour.

James tournament directs in fine style

Carol, Steve, Callum and Rosario winners

January 13, 2020 saw 19 players competing. Callum Scott, Steve Powell and Rosario Graziona did a three way deal of £57 each when the blinds had reached 20k/40k, with Carol Burtenshaw being busted in fourth taking £19. Our bubble was new player, Anthony ‘Swiss’ Robertson.

Battle royale in the heads up

Twenty players competed in our first event of 2020 with Ryan Tanner (who was the first to use his tournament Add On chip)  and Samantha Beaumont getting to the last phase. Ryan approached the top table as clear chip leader, a situation which was compounded when he executed three in one hit with a rivered Queen. Sam dug deep with her small stack and demolished the next three runners, but still only had 25% of the chips in play when the heads up started at 5k/10k. Ryan’s advantage was gradually eroded all the way to the 20k/40k blinds, with Sam eventually taking top spot. Sam won £80, Ryan £60, new player Valee Taibzadah £40 and Jonno Vulture Cook £20. Our bubble was Alex KT.

Daryl. Ryan and James share the spoils

The last tournament of 2019 on January 29 saw 17 players do battle with a deal being reached at the 15k/30k blind level with James Winfield, Ryan Tanner and Daryl Hitchings taking £51 each after Jonno Vulture Cook had bust fourth taking £17. Our bubble girl was Sandie Cresdee.

Show goes on, even with water damage!

James Winfield kindly ran our January 20 event as the normal crew were up north. Huge thanks from all the players so the show could go on. Kit Hinton took the top spot winning £68, Rosario Graziona second with £51, Richard Behling third with £34 and Alex KT fourth with £17. Our bubble was Dez Fry. Four new players this evening, thanks to word of mouth and Google’s spiders.
